The High Schools

Although Kew Gardens has a grammar school (P.S. 99), it has never had a high school. Most graduates from P.S. 99 have attended Forest Hills High School. The rest attended Richmond Hill High School with a very small percentage going to Jamaica High. Until 1954, P.S. 99 taught grades 1 through 8. After that, grades 7 and 8 were eliminated. Grade 6 graduates from P.S. 99 went to Russell Sage Junior High School in Forest Hills for grades 7 though 9, after which they entered Forest Hills High School as sophomores.nbsp; The June 28, 2002 issue of Newsday reported that a 190,000-square-foot public high school is to be built in Kew Gardens directly behind Queens Borough Hall where a municipal parking garage now stands.
