Ciro's Night Club

Part of the Homestead when it was still a hotel, Ciro's Night Club was originally a very proper book and stationary store run by a Mrs. Majors. When Mrs. Majors moved her shop further up Lefferts Boulevard, the vacated space was turned into Ciro's Night Club which offered big band music and an outdoor terrace for dinner and dancing. As recently as the 1960's, the nearby Rumpus Room on 83rd Avenue played host to Count Basie, Woody Herman and Buddy Rich.
