The Kew Gardens Inn

Located at Queens Boulevard and Union Turnpike, the Kew Gardens Inn opened in 1920 as a hotel for residential and transient guests. It was renamed the Kew Gardens Hotel in 1939, and then became the Kew Gardens General Hospital in 1941 - remaining so until it closed in 1978. It was demolished in 1982 and replaced by the Crossroads Building which has been unkindly nicknamed the "Darth Vader" Building by those who consider it an unwelcome addition to the Kew Gardens skyline.
