BTW The window to at the right of the entry in this picture opened near to Dr. Curt Schmeidler's waiting room. One day, my friend Ronnie Leiser and I gathered up some dry leaves, placed them under this window and set them ablaze, filling the waiting room with smoke. By orders of Mrs. Schmeidler (Dr. Schmeidler was too refined to do any neighborhood policing), Ronnie and I were banned from crossing Talbot St. from our to the Schmeidler side of the street. I don't know whether Mrs. Schmeidler had the legal authority to enforce this edict, but we obeyed, until the incident was forgotten. [Photograph and comments, courtesy of Bill Lehman.]
